The Roane County Schools District Class of 2025 included 105 graduates who earned the title of Roane County Tennessee Scholars. The Scholars graduated from the county’s five high schools and its Virtual Academy, and they attended an Awards Ceremony and Breakfast held at Roane County High School on May 6, 2025.
Roane County Tennessee Scholars is a four-year high school program sponsored by the Roane County Schools District, the Roane County Schools Education Foundation, and the Roane Alliance’s Education Matters program. To become a Tennessee Scholar, a graduating student is required to complete a rigorous course of study, receive a “C or higher” grade in every required class, have 95% or higher attendance, pass all end-of-course tests, have no out-of-school suspensions, and have a minimum of sixty hours of community service.
At the county-wide awards ceremony, each Tennessee Scholar received a medallion and certificate, and their academic transcripts and graduation diplomas include the Tennessee Scholars Seal.
Additionally, nineteen of the 105 Tennessee Scholars also received $500 Tennessee Scholar Scholarships:
– Roane State Community College President Chris Whaley awarded six $500 RSCC Tennessee Scholars Scholarships, one for a Scholar from each of the five high schools and Roane County Virtual Academy, to attend Roane State in the fall. The RSCC scholarship recipients are Asher Broucek, Roane County High School; William Davidson, Harriman High School; Maci Godfrey, Roane County Virtual Academy; Garret Humphreys, Midway High School; Alexandra Metcalfe, Rockwood High School; and Jada Parsons, Oliver Springs Academy.
– The Roane County Tennessee, Scholars program awarded thirteen $500 scholarships, with presentations made by Roane Alliance CEO Justin Snow and Allen Lutz of the Roane County Schools Education Foundation. The recipients were selected randomly, ensuring that each of the 105 students had an equal chance to receive a scholarship to support their educational and career goals.
– The thirteen scholarships were funded by grants from Dr. Timothy Bell, DO, a certified osteopathic family physician in Kingston, Tennessee, and Enbridge, the owner and operator of East Tennessee Natural Gas, through its Fueling Futures program, which prioritizes investing in local organizations focusing on youth professional development and workforce training.
